Mindsets, Money, and True Business Freedom Part 2

Time, money, people, and tools are major investments into a business. Not only do we need time to create quality products and services but we often need tools and people to help pull off the process. Yes, we need people to help us. We are not made to be alone (Ecclesiastes 4:10 NIV). With that being said, we have to be selective of the advice we take from others when making money decisions. We often think we should follow a standard plan of spending but I can tell that after giving things over to God things have changed as to how I manage my money (Matthew 11:30 NIV). How I manage my money is different from how a close friend manages their money. Not that either way is better but I found the related stress for me is not as heavy as my friend’s money management stress.

Accepting advice that conflicts with what Jesus leads me to do can influence my thoughts about spending in my business. This applies to others who have a major impact on business decisions or the spending decision we make. Marketing and influential people certainly impact what we think. I found that if I spend my money according to what others believe I usually end up with a higher bill.

Set Boundaries In Your Business

I had to learn to set boundaries in my business regarding which advice I would accept. Also having a Christ-centered business I needed to consult God about my money first. Giving the worries over to Jesus has released me from a sense of fear and dread that was holding me back. Now, don’t get me wrong, things did not suddenly change and I became rich. However, I learned what Paul means to find contentment with where I am now.

Philippians 4:11 NIV- “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”

I am motivated to have more but it means I refuse to stress over what others are doing. I focus on what I am doing. Read more about the “The Fallacy of the Competitive Mindset.” to learn more about God’s thoughts about competition.

Once you accept where you are, after all, don’t despise the day of small beginnings Zechariah 4:10 NLT, you can set clear boundaries on what you need to purchase for your business and stick to it. People will try to make you feel bad because you do not select their recommendations but consider where you are to determine the type of tools and people you need in your life.

Let’s talk more about the tools I use in my business every day that look expensive but are not! Also, everything expensive is not the best. I have seen beautifully expensive cars fall apart because of nothing on the inside.
